Conniburrow Community Association was set up by residents for residents of Conniburrow in the late 80’s and established in the 90’s as a Registered Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee. Its objects are “to provide a centre for a variety of leisure activities and to maintain and manage the centre for the benefit of Conniburrow and its environs (area of benefit). To encourage and advance community education for those living in the area of benefit. To endeavour to improve the condition of life and social welfare of the community. To endeavour to preserve, protect and improve the environment, raise community awareness and publicise matters of concern to the community”.
Conniburrow Community Centre (building) was destroyed by fire in August 2010, sadly no one has been charged. The Management Committee’s focus now is to rebuild the Community Centre and Develop top quality Baseball/Softball and Football on Conniburrow.
Our vision going forward is to have a multi-use facility that enhances and enriches the community in which we live. And to ensure that with regards to Baseball that “Conniburrow is the Place to be” with a strong emphasis on developing Youth (Young People) Baseball/Softball and Football. This includes working closely with other existing organisations/agencies to achieve this.
The rebuilding of the community Centre will be funded from the Insurance.
The CCA together with MKC and other agencies wish to deliver to the community a top quality multi-use facility and Community Centre to Conniburrow and the whole city which can be used as a match venue, development base and centre of excellence of some significance in this region.
Opportunity for Excellence in Conniburrow
Due to the consultation process and various changes in the management of the CCA moving forward on Baseball had come to a standstill. I am happy to report that this is no longer the case. A new project board has been formed to incorporate the rebuilding of the Community Centre which was destroyed by fire and the provision of a multi-use facility for Football, Baseball/Softball in Conniburrow. It is an opportunity for excellence which we must not miss.
Leaseholders (35 year from January 2006)
The CCA are the leaseholders of the Playing Fields and Community Centre and Landscape Depot (office) and should have 100% control over which teams, baseball and or softball play, football and charges.
As leaseholders – The CCA working together with MKC and other agencies have strong influence on the design of the new facilities to be recreated.
The current 35 year lease that Conniburrow Community Association holds from Milton Keynes Council for The Pavilion and Playing Field and Landscape Depot is the legally binding document, which specifically prohibits another party or user taking any control over the facilities at Conniburrow.
